National flag carrier to operate direct flights from Aegean city to Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and Kuwait City this summer.
Turkey’s national flag carrier Turkish Airlines will launch direct flights between Turkey's western province of Izmir and Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and Kuwait City during the summer season, according to the company's statement on Tuesday.
The airline announced that flights from the Aegean city of Izmir's Adnan Menderes Airport to Munich (MUC), Hamburg (HAM) and Berlin (TXL) will be offered twice a week in both directions.
Izmir-Munich flights be offered starting July 7, Izmir-Hamburg flights as of June 23 and Izmir-Berlin flights as of July 1, the air carrier said.
Izmir-Kuwait City (KWI) flights will operate once a week to and fro starting June 8.
Turkish Airlines, founded in 1933 with a fleet of five aircraft, currently has nearly 330 aircraft, including passenger and cargo planes, and flies to more than 300 destinations worldwide. Last year it carried 68.6 million passengers with a 79.1 percent seat occupancy rate.
The airline was named Best Airline in Europe by Skytrax each year between 2011 and 2016, and considered Best Airline in Southern Europe for the ninth consecutive time in 2017. (AA)
